ABOUT
MISSION:
2 Op Collective is a D.I.Y. web-based emerging artists’ collective founded and operated by its members. Our mission is to offer emerging artists a platform for communication in order to encourage the creative development of our members and surrounding art communities. We are dedicated to exhibiting and supporting the art of emerging artists in all media, including but not limited to painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, installation, video art & new media.
HISTORY:
2 Op Collective is the west-coast counterpart of 1 Op Collective, which was originally founded in February of 2010 by Co-Director Lauren Smith. 1 Op Collective consists of over 20 members hailing from New Jersey and New York City.
Upon its inception, 1 Op was meant to be a platform for emerging artists to share local art opportunities via posting on a public blog. It was meant to decrease the amount of time each individual artist spent researching local opportunities and to realize the benefits of working together as a team.
In July of 2010, 1 Op Co-Director Nicole Helen Brunner brought a new energy and expanded vision to the mission of 1 Op Collective. It was during this dynamic time that 1 Op Collective recruited numerous new members and began to develop its curatorial initiative. The blog was no longer just a place to share information; it became the home base for several projects and member events happening all over New Jersey and New York City.
Our debut member group show was held during November of 2010 in conjunction with the Newark Arts Council’s “33 Expo” exhibition in Newark, NJ. Since then 1 Op Collective has organized and curated several exhibitions to showcase member work. Many exciting events took place to help cultivate and expand our unique community.

MEMBERSHIP
2 Op Collective is dedicated to promoting its members and their work. We feature one of our members on the homepage of our site rotating on a monthly basis. Links to websites for all members and contributor profiles are also incorporated towards the promotion of our artist members.
Membership means you have free access to post on the 2 Op blog freely. You can share anything you find interesting with our online community. Your unique voice and original ideas will bring diversity and value to the overall content of the blog.
If you are interested in joining our community, simply send the following items to 2opcollective(at)gmail(dot)com with “Membership Submission” in the subject line:
(1.) artist statement, (2.) current resume/curriculum vitea, and (3.) 10-20 jpg images of your recent work (@ 72 dpi, max 900px) and/or link to your website.
We generally respond to submissions within 2-3 weeks. Please note incomplete submissions will not be passed along to the jurors.
