Nona Haydon
2 Op Collective has their eye on NONA HAYDON! Here are some examples of her work:
Q. Tell us about your work?
A. My recent paintings explore the visual depiction of emotional and psychological experiences. Using the expressive qualities of color, line, abstraction, distortion and narrative, I paint portraits of characters that are external projections of their internal forces. The images are layered and compressed slices of mental scenery manifested upon the picture plane. These subjects, which often exhibit zoomorphic attributes, exist within the setting of their own “mindscape”. Themes of transformation, contradiction, hybridity and guise recur within my work.
Q. What advice do you have for your peers?
A. Keep trying new things. One thing that has worked for me has been to not be afraid of messing up a painting. I’d rather ruin it by taking it too far than not try something because of timidity. I find that I learn more this way and my mistakes can usually be fixed.
Q. Where can we learn more about you and your work?
